  I've been to The Purple Salon 3 times so far, travelling all the way from Somerset for permanent hair straightening (the IHR treatment) with Mei. Mixed results to date, with the second treatment resulting in one small section of hair at the side of my head not being as straight as the rest of it after my first wash post-treatment, maybe due to misapplication. But I've fared well on my most recent visit, happy with the outcome, so, to her credit, I think Mei listened to my criticism and adapted her work accordingly. Her washes/rinses are very thorough and enjoyable, especially on the bed-like chair by the basin. And she's very friendly and chatty, with a quirky sense of humour. The salon has always been nice and quiet when I've been in, and I certainly appreciate the lack of annoying pop music on the radio (though what they do have on, Ibiza Global Radio, may not be to everyone's tastes). I've always been offered a drink (I just don't drink hot drinks, so I've never accepted). Don't add a trim to the end of your treatment though, if you go for one - it cost me £20 when I asked for a trim the first time I went in, for something that only took about a minute for her to do. I learned my lesson there, though she did warn me of the price before she did it, in fairness to her - I regrettably just went ahead with it anyway. Still more positive than negative overall though, hence 4★.
