  I ordered carpet and a specific type of underlay for 2 bedrooms. When they came to fit, I just happened to check what they were doing - the underlay wasn't the one I had ordered - it was a much thinner and obviously cheaper kind. Not only that, they ran out of the underlay they were fitting and attempted to patch the room with two (!) other types of underlay - all different qualities and thickness. You couldn't make it up. Then in the other room, they laid the wrong underlay and somehow managed to leave a 4 inch screw on the floorboards - a screw that wasn't there in the first place. Everything had to be lifted up again, they had to go back to Brentford to get a roll of underlay that would fit both rooms. A job that should have taken 30 minutes ended up taking 3 hours. And of course, I didn't have much choice but to accept an underlay that I didn't really want. They didn't have my choice of underlay in stock. Add in that they damaged newly painted walls and ceilings.
  
  What made the whole thing even worse was that one of the fitters couldn't speak English (and no I am not being racist).
  
  The fit is really bad and I'm probably going to have to get somebody in to refit.
