    A Warning.

We had two boys attend the Co-op near the Train depot in Wimbledon. Our oldest (now 5) attended from the age of 1, when it was known as the Buffer Bear Nursery. He had a wonderful time, made friends, learnt much and loved his time there. He left, going on to school.
Our youngest son (now 3) attended from the age of 6 months and certainly in his first year there had a lovely time with attentive, caring and motivated staff.
For the last year however, there has been rapid staff turnaround with many of the excellent (and qualified) Nursery workers leaving, being replaced by very inexperienced and under-confident staff, some of who are still working towards any sort of childcare related qualification. This has lead to a massive change at the nursery. Whilst previously being able to tolerate the rude behaviour of managers (current and recently departed), many issues continued cropping up that culminated in us removing our son from the Co-op and transferring him to a different nursery (Little Hall Gardens, on Revelstoke Rd) despite him being settled. Some issues included:
-the very low threshold for calling parents to have children collected at the first sign of tears
-the inability to convey information across after calling us at work like presence or absence of a temperature
-the refusal to accept a child in the morning if they are tearful (where in the past, Nursery staff would have cuddled and comforted our son)
-enormous difficulties and frankly condescending attitudes towards chronic medical problems and administration of any medicine
-gossiping behind our backs to our nanny, and about our nanny to us

We felt our younger son was treated very much like a burden to try and get home at the first sign of trouble.

At the new nursery, despite the upheaval for our son who took some time to settle, the atmosphere is very different. All the staff are lovely, easy to talk to, clearly very knowledgeable and caring. We are sorry we did not choose this nursery sooner but thought it better to have both brothers together.

I would strongly urge prospective parents to speak to existing parents before choosing the Co-op.

In fairness to Co-op, we wrote to them with our concerns and they did respond, however I was not prepared to wait for such serious problems to be corrected, when it came to the welfare and happiness of my son.
